Napoleonic fort/Linhas de Torres - WIP

Hello!

While the painting is going slow, one of the current projects - a small fort in Linhas de Torres - is taking its shape.

The base for the terrain is almost ready and the figures arrived yesterday.

Usually I don't post the figures at this stage, but these are different (to me). 2 naval gun crews from Warmodelling Miniatures. Scale? 18mm! The fort is supposed to be 1/72, so I may have to make a few more cuts...

 I may have to get a few more figures and these look so fine! (Yes, some forts were equipped by naval guns and crews.) I'll call my friend Rui from Tempos Medievais and order it for me!


A base para o forte n.º 19 - Ajuda Pequeno - toma forma. É necessário aumentar o nível do terreno do lado de fora e "escavar" o interior do forte. Depois começam os detalhes!
Embora esteja pensado para a escala 1/72, acabei por encomendar estas figuras a 18 mm através da Tempos Medievais. Excelente negócio! Acho que ainda vou encomendar os oficiais... É que sendo um forte, alguns teriam peças e elementos dos navios britânicos!

- 28 Caçadores (Portuguese), 74 Rifles (English) and 100 Scots (have to check the uniforms);

- 95 Light Infantry and 93 Line Infantry (French).


Also from Napoleonic Wars, a small defensive position of Linhas de Torres and a signal post (used only for the Lines).

... and finish those that should have been finished last year! And some medievals! And E.T.s!! ;)

More Guards for Hougoumont

Well, these are the last two companies of Guards that were at Hougoumont farm just before the inicial shots.  These aren't the usual poses of firing or marching, but I think they fit well for that close combat that the Guards had to fight when the French made through. The uniform of that officer seems to represent an ADC... Close enough to Lieutenant-Colonel James Macdonnell? Hope so! This group may be "requested" to close the gate!

More Foot Guards and some crazy blogger's giveaway

2 light companies (10 figures) from the 2nd Batt. 2nd Regiment Foot Guards and 2nd Batt. 3rd Reg. Foot Guards.
The first figure is from HaT's British Peninsular Infantry, and there are a few from A Call to Arms and the others from ESCI.
Back to that officer, I painted him as a surgeon, but the jacket is not exactly the same... I don't know which rank is supposed to represent, but he will be the surgeon present at Hougoumont during the firts moments of Waterloo.

Not that I paint the same things Mr. James Brewerton does, but I love to see others' works, no matter scale or era!

Napoleonic Suiss and more SG-1 pictures

I've painted these guys more than an year ago, but on individual bases. Now I decided that all my napoleonic figures should be based in groups. These were the first and they are the 2 companies of the 4eme régiment Suisse. Which companies I don't know and I am not sure about the accuracy of the uniforms...

They were so well glued that I had to glue them as they were on the bigger base. Each base is 4x8 cm.

Now, Pascal from Sam's Minis World asked me for some more pictures of the figures used on that little dio. Here they are. Clic on them to zoom them.

Hoje apresento a primeira companhia (são 4) de Chasseurs (por ser infantaria ligeira).

Today I present the first (of 4) Chasseurs (talking about light infantry) company.

The peasants are restless!! 

Maybe because of the strange creatures with whom they share the workbench... ;)

Os camponeses estão inquietos! Talvez por causa das estranhas criaturas com que partilham a mesa de trabalho...

Progressos

Um post apenas para registo de... progressos.
A ideia original para o mar foi seguida, apesar dos bons conselhos entretanto recebidos. Usei algodão para aumentar o efeito das ondas.

Just a post to keep record of the progress of the Cutty Sark and a other stuff.
My original idea to do the sea was followed, despite some good advice received. I used cotton to add to the waves effect.

E aqui mais um detalhe para terminar (será desta?) os Foot Guards.

Waterloo 2015 - Nassau Chasseurs Company

Final pictures of these 5. I Changed the base and now it is a 6x4cm. Takes less space and doesn't look so... empty.
I just need to say that these figures from HaT really disappointed me (and I don't think of myself as a picky guy). But 25 more will be painted to complete the 1st Battalion of the 2nd Regiment Nassau-Usingen. 

As últimas fotos destes 5. A base tem agora 6x4cm, o que permite ocupar menos espaço e não parecer tão... vazia.
As figuras deste set da HaT desapontaram-me bastante. Gosto da marca, tem figuras excelentes, mas o plástico macio e, neste caso então, a quantidade de flash faz lembrar as cópias de Hong Kong com que brincava há 25 anos!

Ainda assim, tenho mais 25 para pintar para completar o 1.º Batalhão do 2.º Regimento de infantaria de Nassau.

Waterloo 2015 - Light Companies 1st Reg. Foot Guards

The figures from the last post but based.
I forgot to mention, the figures are from Italeri box British & Scots Infantry, which is an original from ESCI.
These bases are made of k-line (foam board, it's material used by architects to do scale models) which is easy "dig" so I could hide the bases of the figures, as I want them to look like they were on wood. They are 2x6cm.
They didn't come out with the same effects, and that kind of bothers me, but I'll leave it as it is, at least for now. What I did on purpose was having different "poses" (only one of the "companies", the second to be assembled). The are shooting over the wall (there will be a wall in the end) and it comes a time when the more rigid formation we see in the other base is no longer possible.

Não referi antes, as figuras são da caixa da Italeri, British & Scots Infantry, que por sua vez é um orginal na ESCI.
Estas bases são feitas em k-line (ou cartão pluma - ver o link acima) que é muito fácil de cortar/escavar, de forma a esconder (quase) as bases das figuras, de forma a parecer estarem em cima de tábuas ou partes de mobilia. Estas bases têm 2x6 cm.
Os efeitos de sujidade não sairam como eu queria, sairam com tons diferentes (é o que dá fazer as coisas com alguns dias de diferença, em vez de ter tudo pronto para a pintura ao mesmo tempo!) mas embora me aborreça, já não vou mexer mais. O que fiz intencionalmente foi a variedade de poses (apenas para a segunda "companhia"), onde um atira de cima para baixo (estarão a atirar por cima de um muro), outro tem em mira algum inimigo numa posição mais "diagonal", enfim, retratam aquela altura em que já não há lugar ao "formalismo" do carregar e disparar ao mesmo tempo e para o mesmo lado.
